questions i wonder about myself-(& others that might be too afraid to ask)
what exactly is the "slow ride race"?--is it like where you can't put a foot down and get a point/finish line last?
what exactly is the "treacherous gymkhana"?--(saw the video kinda--it wasn't too clear on my screen though). from the looks of the video, i might have to don my white open face helmet and my blue-jumpsuit w/ "danger" written on the back if i get in that huh?-(yes, suit and helmet is endorsed by johnny knoxville).
also, what is the time frame on the barber tour?-(would this take the better part of the afternoon? or can you hit that AND the above mentioned).
help your newbie group member-(also newbie to the 'ham) and sodisco-rally first-timer. tanx!!

ok, ok...let me get this str8......nekkid folk, ensuring health ins. is up to date as well as threats of many pictures???......i'ma gettin' skeeeeeeeeeered!!!!!!!

na.......lookin' waaay 4ward to it guys. tanx for the replies. also looking 4ward to meeting the bss-family in person. i doubt i can make it down tomorrow-(friday-night meeting), but i think all 3 of us now-(the mrs. AND the little monkey) are coming down to the 'ham saturday-(my little-one thinks nothing about running around "nekkid", in fact she prefers it--will probably fit right in huh?, lol..just kidding). i'm preregistered so i won't have to worry with registering when i arrive saturday. i'm gonna try to trek back sunday also-(solo on one of the scoots most likely). i'm gonna try to mapquest the location that we're meeting @ saturday morning, but if any of you have the time, i'm a little better w/ some simple verbal instructions than looking @ a map. i'll just need directions to the first meeting-place and i'll just follow sum1 to the other places from there. i'll be coming from 65-N, i know how to get to crestwood-coffee now-(finally rode to it a couple of weeks ago), and 5-points, and uab and that's about my extent of knowledge in getting around down there in the 'ham. anyway like i said lookin' 4ward to meeting everybody and doing some scootin' round the 'ham--(i'm sure i'll get to know my way around down there MUCH better after all the scootin' to be done in sodisco-3). i've never been to sloss either but saw it several times from 59. lookin' 4ward to that as well. cya soon.

ok cool. was checking out some map shots. think i'll be able to stumble upon the locations fairly easily. if you see an out-of towner looking lost hauling a scoot or 2, OR if you see a puzzled-looking semi-lost scoot-rider, that'd be me.......honk, holla & wave me in. tanx. cya soon.

hey Johnno, the city is layed out pretty straight forward.
powell ave and morris ave. run down the middle between north and south.
avenues count up from the middle in both directions 1,2,3,... there are a couple of roads that have dropped the number name and taken on another name, such as university blvd is 8 ave. south and 21st street is one of the richard arrington jr. blvd.
Streets have some courts and whatnot in between sometimes but low to the west and higher to the east. a few one ways but not so much that you get too far from the target if you need to circle around a oneway.
to get to sloss find 32nd street from a south ave. it provides both entrances to sloss.
once you get up in the hills around town it's everyman for himself.

tanx 4 the tips everybody. thanks also 4 clarifying that about the 2 named streets being amongst the numbered st's and ave's. i think that's what confuses me when i get down in that area. the north and south stuff gets over on me too sometimes. lol, around here where i live, the center of town is WAL-MART-(ok, g'head and grin, that IS funny) and everything else in town spawns around it-(every time they change locations). what's funny is i grew up here and ALL directions are like:......."yeah, it's like 2 streets over south-side of wal-mart- the big brown building." lol, seriously that's the kind of directions i grew up depending on. so navigating in a strange town w/ no known landmarks to reference off of and reading street signs'll be an adventure. they were going to lay out one-way streets here years ago--and it was struck down-(i guess when you only have like 3 streets in the middle of town, they figured all it would do is just confuse all our senior citizens here, so they scrapped the idea).

the last time i was in b'ham around that part of town--a few years back i was trying to find the b&a warehouse-(is that place still there?) we were going to see fisher and duncan sheik play live there-(which was pretty cool btw). i got turned around somehow looking 4 that blasted b&a warehouse and about gave up before we got there. looking 4ward to getting re-oriented down there. the best i could gather gazing at the map, magic city motor scooters and urban standard are pretty close to each other i would think. anyway, tanx again 4 the replies and looking 4ward to meeting every1. cya soon.
