Be on the lookout for Chimay!

i'm going to check out the pig on the way to the dismals today. not in the mood to hit the burbs, even for chimay. |
The pig may have it. They've been really good about trying to get the new stuff asap. |
Forgive me if this has already been addressed. (I don't have the time or the desire to read through 30 pages of posts)
Before the bill was signed into law a bullshit stipulation was added to it that stated that in order to apply for an application to have the high gravity beers added to your existing retail license, (That's right, apply to apply!) you must first have an on-site tasting license. That's why you can find them at places like the Pig, but not at others that you think should, like the Western on Highland, though they may have rectified that by now and gotten a license. Been a long time since I've bought beer. |
Basically the law states that any retail establishment must have both an onsite and offsite beer/wine license or liquor license (think distilled beverages) to be able to sell high gravity beer. So any retail outlet that conducted wine/beer tastings prior to the passage had the appropriate licenses to sell HG beers immediately. Also if any restaurant that sells beer/wine or liquor on premises is covered as well. _________________ Adopting Claire, check in to get the latest! |

The pig has alway had an on site license that's how they did wine tasting. The reason why the pig didn't have chimay was because no one had distribution rights until a few weeks ago. The pig had high gravities the minute they were available. The license requirement was put in place to try and stop places like convenient stores selling them.
By the way no chimay at the pig yet. I just checked. _________________

All I'm sayin' iz that we should be able to get our high gravites in the 'hood too! At tha sto' dawg! YEA-UH!!!!!! From all the recent activity on the FTH forum, its safe to say that Chimay is now being sold in B'ham and in pretty much most venues that carry HG beer.
You shouldn't have any problem finding it now, Eileen. _________________ Adopting Claire, check in to get the latest! |
