Fooker's gonna go down. The defense witnesses were almost like the govt witnesses.

Well that's the rub. You don't pay taxes on loans or "gifts", according to the defense. The no tax on loans thing sounds about right and I'm sure many gifts aren't taxable too. Not sure about Larry's "gifts" though. So, according to the defense, the IRS can't touch him if he wasn't bribed. To hear the defense, only illegal earnings are taxable. This is likely true. It takes about 20 minutes of homework to verify and, AFAIK, the witness for the IRS didn't disagree.
Like I said, I'm worried. If he gets off, I'm afraid it will be because none of the witnesses for the prosecution testified to any quid pro quo conversations. |

I've heard Langford speak (years ago when I worked for SouthTrust), and was getting my hair cut one day while he was getting his shoes shined at the barber shop on Morris Avenue, during his mayoral campaign.
Langford can charm the skin off a snake. He can talk his way out of a paper bag. I cannot believe he did not testify on his own behalf. The defense is scared, after the judge wouldn't allow them to use character witnesses to say that he gave away all his ill-gotten gains.
I am such a doubting Thomas when it comes to these things. I am glad the trial isn't in Birmingham, where he would have surely been acquitted, just like Scrushy was in his Health South criminal trial (he was convicted later for bribery, not for accounting fraud).
I just hope the good constituents of west Alabama have enough info to convict him. Road paving and dome building won't get him out of this one! _________________ I am Voltron! |

The donor is generally responsible for paying the gift tax. Under special arrangements the donee may agree to pay the tax instead. Please visit with your tax professional if you are considering this type of arrangement. |

I was mistaken. It took 15 seconds of research. |

Not that I care for her, but she's the new mayor, at least until the next election.
As long as Crazy Larry isn't in office, and is behind bars (at least in the next 3-6 months) then so be it. He's got to come up with some serious cash too. _________________ I am Voltron! |
