Carl Dreyer's 1928 silent movie, "The Passion of Joan of Arc". Noted as being the first movie to make use of the close-up. The actors who played the two leads, Renee Falconetti, as Joan and Antonin Artaud, as the young priest in love with her, both ended up in insane asylums. Falconetti never acted again after Joan of Arc.
We've (Black & White) shown it several times as a part of the film series we do at the museum.
