Johnno, it is me on my scoot. Its one of the Buddies that Matt sells. That pic was taken the day after I got it. There was about 13 miles on the odometer at that point. I've added windshield and a seatcover to the scooter. Its a sweet ride. I'll meet you there at the rally. I registered Mike & I on Tuesday. See you there! |

cool. i'm looking forward to meeting y'all. don't know if i got the wife talked into coming w/ me yet, but maybe she will. i was curious what the top speed on your scoot is. it's a good looking ride. if you were an action figure, that'd be one of the vehicle accessories available for ya. it fits ya that good.

hi johnno and welcome
i too have a buddy scooter. mine is one of the old one's an 06 125. i've gotten mine to the high 60s which read 75 mph. geekgirl has a 150 and probably has a greater top end speed but don't know. it's very comfy at 55-60. see ya soon. |

cool. tanx 4 the info. i was curious about that. i've got a 150cc and another 50cc. the 150cc is the one i ride to the 'ham. is there any bss members that you know of that ride small-frame 50cc? i'm semi-looking to get another one that can be exclusively my wife's that's "chick-friendly" and has good speed range. i'm wondering if the buddy is auto or geared? she would definately want an auto-trans. if i can talk her into riding in the upcoming rally, we'll trailer both of them to the 'ham, unload and then ride. the 50cc scoot would take a spell to commute the 70 miles to 'ham and prob cause some road-fatigue once she got there to ride. seems the buddy-scoot is pretty well liked here in the bss. i'm also wanting to get an old beater for myself to knock about town w/, but if i get one for her, i want it to be new or fairly-new so she won't break down and stuff. i'm gonna research the buddy.

A buddy 125 is chick friendly and easy to ride, and it has the power to get up the hills and out of the way. You can putter around at 15-20 mph comfortably and when your riding skills get better you can ride it at 55 real mph no problem. It's nice and lightweight, with a low seat. As easy to hold at a stoplight as a bicycle.
With a 50 cc you'll have about as much power as a good cyclist on a road bicycle. Meaning you can get over red mountain but you'll be really holding traffic up- maybe 10 mph.
So: Buddy 125 or 150 (very similar) I like this bike.

cool. tanx 4 the info. are they 4-stroke engines or 2 stroke engines on the 150 & 125? my wife has informed me that she WILL NOT be mixing oil and will not be kick-starting hers.-(mine ride a little rough too, so compared to other scoots it's comfy huh?)

ok cool. tanx for the info on it. we're planning on being at the rally-(all three of us on saturday), just me probably late friday afternoon and sunday. if you're gonna be there, i'd like to check out the scoot. it'll probably be spring before she actually gets "her very own". but i'm a research nerd and like to thoroughly look at all my options before settlling in on one. like you were saying, ease and especially comfort are her top priorities. also just curious if it has factory mounts for a factory windshield 4 cold weather riding or possibly a factory paint-matched trunk if available 4 your scoot. let me know when you get a chance. tanx again.

Definitely go down to Magic City Motor Scooters and talk shop with Big Will and Matt. They'll hook you up.

cuffs--i just got through checking out that bmw on-line some. that is a SWEET ride. the first enduro bike i ever bought was a new 1983 honda 250r-XL. i put many many miles on it. in my opinion, onroad/offroad bikes are about THE most fun you can have on 2 wheels--(2nd ONLY TO SCOOTS!!!!) this bmw is a bit more meaty looking than my old 250. man, a 1200cc on/offroad bike--i'd like to test-drive one for a weekend.
