|
|
Hey, all. In about 15 days my scoot will be delivered and, as it's my first, I need a little advice on oil. Does it matter what oil I use in a 65 Allstate? Any personal preferences out there? Also, if there are any maintennance "bibles" out there, what book should I look for?
Thanks for any advice. |

i've been using motul for years and i love it, i'm using 710.
you'll get a bunch of opinions from people about their oil, it's almost like getting in a religion discussion. stick with a full synthetic and you should be okay. belray, motul, amsoil, motorex all make good full synthetics. don't use lawnmover, outboard motor, walmart crap stuff, full synthetic is better. _________________

Gearbox? Almost anything will do, but 30 weight is specified.
Any synthetic that's labelled as okay for premixing will do for the fuel. Right now I using whatever they're selling at Majic City Motorscooters because they're convenient to me. And I like them:-) |

i agree w/ the posts above. i ONLY use "bel-ray-S2" synthetic and i've got no complaints about it and have had no problems out of it. NEVER fouled a plug using it either, but i've fouled out several many years ago experiementing w/ cheaper stuff--(it's not worth the break-downs or the engine-wear trying to save a few cents on a cheaper less quality oil---trust me).

lol, yeah that guy really covers the topic of motorbike oil end to end and sideways both ways. you gotta admit he's REALLY thorough. i'd like to e the author of that link and see if he'd be willing to do all my paperwork and my taxes from now on. you'd never have to worry about anything missing or being out of order.

|
|
I am a local AMSOIL dealer and have ridden Honda scooters and Goldwings for years. Best oil for any bike in Dixie is a synthetic. Best synthetic oil is AMSOIL.
I do funeral escort duties on a bike... slow going, stop and go traffic. Bikes, especially the air cooled engines, with conventional oil tend to overheat in spring, summer, and fall weather.
My AMSOIL web site is www.lubedealer.com/205. I am a good scooter ride away in North Shelby County. _________________ Your neighbor |
