It seems that statewide votes are easy to derail. I'll bet that most voters don't have personal relationships with openly gay people. It's not a huge step to convince that voter that legalizing gay marriage does more harm than good. There are established institutions in place all over the US that will do just that. It's an uphill fight.
On a positive note, gay marriage has become known as a matter of civil rights in the mainstream media and the social righties have been unable to put that back into a box. This has huge implications, but seems to have gone unnoticed.
Have you guys heard about the push to publish the names of people who sign petitions for referendums on gay marriage? The US supreme court has effectively put a stop to it until they can review the case. What kind of twat signs a petition that they won't admit publicly to signing? Anyways..
| Quote: | | "The only reason this thing is getting on the ballot is a certain number of validly registered Washington voters put their names on the petitions," she said. Shaw argued that if the names aren't released, it's impossible to perform oversight on the state's verification of the legitimacy of the names. |

Perhaps they are afraid of discrimination on the job.....I know it's pretty retarded, but you have some people/companies that are still stuck in the dark ages! Of course you can try to sue, best of luck with that though _________________ "Some traded sheets and robes for badges and blue suits!"-Fredro Starr |
